"To participate in the MedX Programs was a huge honor and mostly, a huge part of my enrichment and personal growth. Not only experiencing what a typical day in a doctor's life looks like but also observing and interacting with surgeons during surgeries, been able to be present cases from the beginning to end, interacting with patients, etc., it makes it even more real. At first, I was totally concentrated on one specialty but being able to see and learn so much about medicine left me wanting to be like 5-6 things at the same time. "During my time off before starting my accelerated BSN program at UM, I decided to make use of it and apply to a medical trip program. I had heard of different programs and I decided to apply for MedX and it has been one of the most fulfilling experiences I’ve had. I’ve worked and volunteered in the Dominican Republic before but never related to the medical field. MedX allowed me to put myself out there and work with doctors which I had never done before. From everything we did I learned something new, whether if it was observing surgeries in the OR or learning how to suture and being able to work with patients.
